January: Garnet A symbol of loyalty and energy, garnet promoted sincerity. People believed it had illuminative powers, both physically and spiritually. Garnet was also said to offer protection in health and travel, alleviate anger and promote tranquility. Garnet was once thought to stop bleeding, like other red stones. |
February: Amethyst Symbolically, it represented piety and dignity. Its most unusual magical power is the ability to prevent drunkenness, but if it is carved properly, it may also prevent fatal poisoning. It is supposed to bring peace of mind.

March: Aquamarine Courage and strength. The root word for aquamarine means "seawater" in Greek, relating it to the beliefs of ancient voyagers that it protected them from harm and seasickness. In legend, it has long been a positive gem, bringing with it health, hopefulness and youth. If worn properly, it could also bring love and affection. Its supernatural powers gave a person with an aquamarine in his or her mouth the ability to summon the Devil and get questions answered. |
April: Diamond Throughout much of the world, people have associated diamonds with purity, virtue, wealth, strength, power and of course love. For hundreds of years diamonds have been believed to strengthen emotional bonds and ensure marital fidelity. June: Pearl Wearing Pearl has traditionally represented purity, innocence and integrity. Thought to increase fertility and ease the pain of childbirth.

July: Ruby Fidelity, contentment and calmness. Historically, a fine ruby had all sorts of magical powers. Its color was thought to come from an undying flame, or a piece of the planet Mars, inside the stone. It offered its owner the protection of living safely among enemies. It was believed to stop bleeding. In Burma, it could make one invincible if it was embedded in the skin. In modern times, rubies became the symbol of love and passion. |
August: Peridot Peridot was believed to ensure the wearer of good thoughts. In Roman times, it offered protection from deception and depression. In the Middle Ages, it was used for inspiration and eloquence. Peridot was thought to promote friendship and cure liver disease.

September: Sapphire Repentance and true love. Sapphire is considered a mind-opening gem. It is supposed to clarify thought, aid relaxation and attract divine favor. It brings truth and good health to the wearer while preventing envy and fraud. It was thought to be a powerful antidote for poison.

October: Opal Truth and hope. Opal is a symbol of fidelity, but it would bring trouble to anyone who was unfaithful. Some legends say that opal sharpens the mind and the emotions, and it is good for the eyes, warding off eye troubles and improving vision. |
November: Citrine / Yellow Topaz Cheerfulness, control over emotions and clear thought. Traditionally, its powers included making its wearer lighthearted, cheerful and hopeful in trying times. It was thought to relax people and purify the body, making them look healthy and feel happy

December: Blue Topaz/ Blue Zircon A symbol of love and fidelity in the Middle Ages, it was believed to bring about patience and a pleasant disposition. Topaz was also thought to have amazing medicinal powers, even against the plague.
